Hair Types


Humans have three types of hair that grow on the body during their lifetime known as lanugo hair, vellus hair and terminal hair.

Lanugo Hair– a very fine mostly unpigmented hair that grows on the body of unborn and newborn babies. This hair falls off soon after birth

  • Genetic background effects how dark this hair can be
  • Some babies are born with excessive amounts
